Janae Mangal & Kizie Laurencin – Interns August 2023

The Saint Lucia Forensic Science Laboratory internship programme provided us with a hands-on experience in various aspects of forensics including Body Fluid Identification (BFI), Serial Number Restoration (SNR), Drug Chemistry processes as well as Evidence Collection and Storage.

Throughout the internship, we had the opportunity to work alongside skilled professionals such as Ms. Aliker Compton, Mrs. Joy E. Quinlan, Mr. Louis Murray, Mr. Joseph Berkeley, and Ms. Lekisha Cavalier, among others.

The internship also emphasized the importance of attention to detail, critical thinking, and ethics within the field. In addition, the welcoming and amicable spirit throughout this internship by all staff members, especially Mrs. Tamara Sifflet- Henry was exceptional.

Overall, this internship was an invaluable opportunity that deepened our interest in Forensic Science and equipped us with practical skills for a future career in this field or any other scientific field.

Lastly, we would like to say thank you to Ms. Fernanda Henry, who played a significant role in making this internship possible. Her willingness to mentor us contributed immensely to our professional growth.
